![]() Daniela Ruah Interviews: | Ruah was born in Boston, the only child of Dr. Moisés Carlos Bentes Ruah and his wife Catarina Lia Azancot Korn. She has a distinguishable birthmark in her right eye, and her other eye is hazel. Her father was a resident of the ear, nose and throat department at the BU-TUFTS combined residency program. Both of her parents were born in Portugal. They left Boston and returned to Portugal with Daniela, when she was 5. Daniela's father's family, the Ruahs, were among the first Jews of historic Portuguese origin who returned to Portugal in the 19th century when Jews were permitted to settle in Portugal again. Daniela's mother is the daughter of a Portugal-born Sephardi mother and an Ashkenazi Jewish father who was born (1922) in Breslau, then a city in eastern Germany (now Wrocław, Poland). Ruah speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish fluently. She holds citizenship in both the United States and in Portugal. |
